$50 worth of beauty products for $2.99

If you follow any deal bloggers, you've probably seen this Julep deal blowing up everywhere. Seriously, everyone is raving about it. You can find Julep products at Sephora.

Simply click here to take the quiz which will lead you to the free, high quality products. I just did it and will get two $14 gel-like nail polishes and a $24 Glow Pore Minimizing Blush for the cost of $2.99 shipping.

Mine automatically rang up free in the cart, but just in case yours doesn't, use code FREECOLOR or FREEBOX.

This automatically enrolls you in their monthly Maven subscription program where you get a box of goodies (similar to Birchbox). If you don't want to automatically be charged for the monthly subscription be sure to cancel it hassle free by June 24 by calling 877-651-3292 and pressing 4. I plan to get my goodies and then cancel. Mwahaha....

These are the different freebies you could get.

Spray painting outdoor cushions

Outdoor cushions are soooo expensive! The weather had taken it's toll on my brown ones. Plus, I tried washing the covers in the washing machine and it made them even more faded and left white lines on them. Grrrr....

Free Father's Day card

Cherishables is offering a completely free, custom Father's Day card through June 1. You'll need to use promo code DAD14C when you check out. Shipping is free too! Plan ahead so you're not scrambling for a gift and card last minute.

FYI - I've been trying to create one the past couple days and the site keeps freezing on me. Maybe I have a slow computer, but I think the site is overloaded. Hopefully it will work for you though.

The card I've been attempting to print

UPDATE: Their webpage now says "We're Sorry! Our site has been experiencing a slow down during our Free Father's Day Offer. Thank You for your patience."

Memorial Day weekend recap

What a nice, long, relaxing weekend. Thank you to all of our service members past and present. It wasn't really feeling like Memorial Day until we attended a service at the Adams, NE cemetery. They brought in almost a dozen WWII vets, the founders of Patriotic Productions, and a horse with a riderless saddle as a tribute. I wish I would have gotten better pictures.

I spent most of the weekend cutting fresh flowers and arranging them. Every nook and cranny of our house has a bouquet - mostly peonies right now.

Fun fact: Yesterday I had readers from the usual countries like the U.S., China, and Canada, but also new readers from Romania, Columbia, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago. Welcome!

Hope you all have time to grill out, catch some rays, and work on home projects during this long weekend. I will be doing all of that and attending a wedding. Special shout out to Tim and Stacie. I'm ready to celebrate with you!

Free paint day at Eco Store

Saturday, May 17 was Eco Store's Free Paint Day and I completely failed to let you know. Sorry! They do this event twice a year. The good news is there is still plenty of free paint that you can pick up through this weekend (Memorial Day Weekend). I believe they're closed on Monday though.

Drive to the back and you'll see this:

Only grab paint from the front six pallets. The paint in the back is bad.

$1.98 wine at Super Saver

My post on the free Hy-Vee wine was super popular so I thought I'd share another wine deal. Super Saver has Woodbridge Wine for $1.98 if you purchase 12 bottles and send in the $21 mail-in rebate. All Woodbridge Wines are eligible so whether you prefer sweet or dry, you're covered.

Aspirin for plants

Do you have your veggies and flowers planted for the season? I'm pretty much done and am just patiently waiting for them to grow. I've been reading about the benefits of spraying plants with aspirin (yes, aspirin!) and I might give it a try.

Outdoor table progress... kind of

At the end of yesterday's post, I mentioned we want to build a big ten person outdoor table for our deck. We kind of, sort of made some progress last night. We figured out the measurements!

Husband somewhat measuring to make sure the table size is comfortable when seated. We do things as accurately as possible in our household - ha.

Outdoor bench redo

I found an old crummy bench months ago on the curb. It was a blast from the past, but nothing a little elbow grease couldn't fix.

Here are the before pictures:

DIY beverage cooler sleeve

I stumbled across this beverage cooler idea and think it's so cool! Basically you take plastic liters (3 liters is recommended), cut the top off, place your bottle of alcohol inside, and then alternate between freezing water and layers of fruit. It looks awesome and keeps your beverages cold.

Sam's Club membership deal

Sam's Club

Now is the time to get a Sam's Club membership if you don't already have one. We love Sam's and became members when a similar deal was offered.

"Through 5/19 and for new Sam's Club Members only, get a 1-Year Sam's Club Membership, bundled with a $20 gift card & vouchers for free food items (a $91 value), for $45 at Zulily. This ties with the best new member deal we've seen for new Sam's club members, which hasn't resurfaced since November. The vouchers are valid for a free take and bake pepperoni or cheese pizza, free cheesecake squares, and a free 5'' x 7'' canvas mini print, which will need to be redeemed within 30-days of activating your membership. There's no sales tax (except WA, NV, and OH)."- Brad's Deals

Frame redo

Remember how Walgreen's periodically offers free 8x10 prints? I sometimes create monograms and have them printed and I put them in frames for gifts. To create the monograms, I use a really cool free program that can be found by clicking here. Remember that the wife's first name initial should be first, the couple's new last name initial should go in the middle, followed by the husband's first name initial.

These fit perfectly in 8x10 frames, but you know me - I'm always trying to use what I have on hand. I had this big ugly picture that desperately needed a redo.

Gardening season

Last night was beautiful so we took advantage of it and worked on the garden. All of my immediate family is helping with a big garden at the home place (instead of us each having our own small patches).

The best resource I can direct you to is this: The Old Farmer's Almanac - Vegetable Garden Planning for Beginners

Below are the top ten easiest veggies to grow. We planted all except mint.

Marshalls and HomeGoods recap

Marshalls and HomeGoods held their grand opening in Lincoln, NE yesterday. I stopped by after work and not surprisingly they were both packed. It was hard to shop with so many people around so I simply walked through and took pictures where I could.

Being the cheapskate that I am, I probably won't buy much here until merchandise starts going on clearance. Lots of neat stuff though!

Cloudy, cold day! Packed parking lot.
